Dr. Eric C. Browning

Dr. Eric C. Browning

After earning his undergraduate degree from Harvard University, Dr. Browning graduated from the Ohio State University College of Medicine in 1979. Completing his general surgical training at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio in 1985, Dr. Browning moved to Findlay, joining the long-established practice of Dr. Loren Senn. He has continuously served the community since, eventually being joined by Drs. Polder and Strigle.  

Dr. Browning has served in various leadership positions within the hospital community including president of the Blanchard Valley Hospital medical staff and chairman of the Surgery Department, and currently is chairman of the Cancer Committee.

Dr. Browning and his wife have four children. Raising their families in the community, the partners of Findlay Surgical Associates share a strong commitment to service beyond the practice of medicine. They have participated in various activities, including school, church, athletic, and service organizations.

Dr. Richard M. Polder

Dr. Richard M. Polder

Dr. Polder earned both his undergraduate and medical degrees at Ohio State, graduating from the Ohio State College of Medicine in 1984. His general surgical residency was completed at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus, Ohio in 1989. Joining Dr. Browning in practice that year, and with the subsequent addition of Dr. Strigle to the practice, Findlay Surgical Associates was established.  

Dr. Polder has held a number of leadership positions in the medical community, including President of the Medical Staff and Chairman of the Department of Surgery at Blanchard Valley Hospital, President of the Hancock County Medical Society, currently is Chairman of the Hospital Foundation, and he also serves on the Findaly Surgery Center Board of Managers.  

Dr. Polder is married and has four children. He and the other members of Findlay Surgical Associates have a strong bond with Findlay and share a commitment to serve the community outside of medicine as well. 

Dr. Thomas R. Strigle

Dr. Thomas R. Strigle

Dr. Strigle earned his undergraduate degree from Youngstown State University and subsequently obtained his doctorate of Medicine from Northeastern Ohio Universities College of Medicine in a six year combined B.S. /M.D. program. He completed a residency in General Surgery at Akron General Medical Center, and joined Dr. Browning and Dr. Polder in practice in 1992.

Along with his partners, Dr. Strigle has served on several leadership roles and committees in the area including President of the Hancock County Medical Society, Vice Chairman of the Findlay Surgery Center Board, Chairman of the Continuing Medical Education Committee, and Chairman of Surgical Privileges Committee.

Dr. Strigle and his wife have four children, and like his partners, continues to be active in various community activities. His involvement has included roles in church, school, youth, and athletic organizations.

Jim Brown

Jim Brown - Certified First Assistant

Jim Brown CFA (Certified First Assistant) was born and raised in upstate New York. He served six years in the US Army, where he first learned his surgery skills. He attended Brockport State University in Rochester, NY studying exercise physiology. 

Jim moved to Ohio in October 1990 and was hired as a surgical assistant in the surgery department at Blanchard Valley Hospital. His duties, at that time, included assisting surgeons from multiple specialties. In 2000, Jim was hired by Findlay Surgical Associates, as their private assistant. Jim assists all three surgeons at BVH and the Findlay Surgery Center. Jim has developed exceptional assisting skills while employed with FSA, and his certification is recognized by the American College of Surgeons. 

Jim is married and has two beautiful girls. He enjoys attending all of his girls athletic events and watching the girls show their horses.
